To be considered for a Flagler Habitat for Humanity home, your current housing must be unsafe, inadequate, or unaffordable. We look at issues like structural problems, utility or heating concerns, and whether your home has enough space for your family. Your income and housing costs will also be reviewed, and you’ll discuss your financial situation with a Habitat representative. Applicants must live in Flagler County, Florida, and have done so for at least one year.
You may qualify if your family’s income falls within our guidelines (see chart below). Since you will be buying your home from Flagler Habitat for Humanity, you need to show that you can make monthly payments of at least $1,000, which cover the mortgage principal and escrow payments including: taxes, insurance and pest control. We’ll consider your history of paying bills, rent, or saving regularly. Our team can help you review your budget and determine if you’re eligible.
As a selected “partner family,” you contribute “sweat equity” by volunteering on your home, other builds, ReStores, or in Habitat programs. Each adult must complete 200 volunteer hours before moving in.
